*1990 Heitz Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA,1990
This showed better than expected. It has a fine, eucalyptus nose complemented by fruitcake, bar leaf and a touch of cedar…certainly demonstrating more freshness and vigour than the ’91. The palate is medium-bodied with a very fine structure, firm tannins, very youthful. A little more depth than the ‘Roberson’ bottle. Very lithe and rounded towards finish with touches of allspice and eucalyptus. I like the ‘coolness’ here, whereas other vintages are marred by excessive heat. (RP)
In the mid 1960’s, an agreement was made between Joe Heitz and Tom May to source the cabernet sauvignon fruit from May’s small Oakville vineyard for Heitz wines. Ever since 1966, Heitz Cellar has been crafting the now illustrious Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, one of our three vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignons.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, farmed sustainably and certified organic by CCOF and Certified Fish Friendly Farming.
