*2007 Sinatra Come Fly With Me Cabernet Sauvignon
Sinatra Family Estates Come Fly With Me Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA 2007
I was blown away by the gorgeous Sinatra Family Estates 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. 'Celebrity' cuvees are often huge disappointments, but that’s not the case with this wine. This Calistoga-based, dense purple-colored effort offers beautiful notes of scorched earth, blueberries, blackberries, plums, and licorice. Full-bodied, opulent, and seriously-endowed with sweet tannins as well as a stunning finish, this is a delicious blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. I enjoyed it despite the rather cloying 'Come Fly With Me' on the front label. (RP)
Sinatra Family Estates has partnered with the Frank Sinatra Estate and his three children (Tina, Nancy and Frank Jr.) to produce world-class wine in honor of the entertainer's enduring legacy. From our estate vineyards near the northern end of Napa Valley we are proud to present Sinatra Family Estates Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our 5-acre vineyard has a western facing slope with gentle elevations. Soils vary from volcanic clay and rock to alluvial fan valleys with loose, gravely, sandy soils. The combination of warm days, cool nights and well-drained cobbly soils produces a low-yielding crop of exceptionally concentrated fruit. The wines produced on this remarkable land have a rare combination of straightforward character with precisely defined flavors and fine textures exuding deep concentration without any sense of heaviness and the capacity to develop profound complexity with age.
